— our story

A quiet shop, on the Gierstraat in Haarlem.

Since opening in April 2017, Drifter has been delivering carefully chosen goods — and honest service — to locals in Haarlem and beyond. One brand at a time, one conversation at a time.

Inside Drifter — wooden floors, soft light, racks of considered clothing

01

Quality, slowly.

We choose pieces that ought to last a decade. Heavy cottons, dense wool, real leather. Nothing that needs replacing in a season.

02

Fair, all the way.

We know the studios. We know the mills. Most of our brands work in small workshops in Europe, paying real wages.

03

Honest advice.

We won't sell you something that doesn't suit you. If it doesn't, we'll tell you. That's the whole point of a small shop.

Hands working with thread and fabric — slow craft

The way we work

We carry less, on purpose.

You won't find hundreds of styles here. You'll find the white shirt we'd wear ourselves, the one cashmere knit worth saving for, the jeans we've already washed and creased so you can see how they age. Every rail is curated, not stocked.

Most of our pieces come from small ateliers in Sweden, Denmark, Portugal and Italy — places where a tailor still cuts the cloth, and a knitter still knows the names of the people on the looms.

Slow is the whole point.

In the shop

There's always coffee on.

Drop in to feel the cloth, ask a question, or just sit on the bench by the window for a while. We don't believe in pressure — we believe in good conversation, honest light, and pieces you'll keep for the long way around.

A place to come back to.

Great service and a thoughtfully curated selection. I always leave with something I'll wear for years.

Such a welcoming atmosphere. They poured me a coffee, asked what I was looking for, and were honest about what worked.

Quality over quantity, and you can feel it. Beautiful sweaters, vibrant colours, fabrics that last.

It's the kind of shop you keep coming back to — for the clothes, but also for the conversation.
